The Abacus Framework

The abacus framework is a collection of mini applications designed to be easily installed into a web site. In technical terms, it is a set of 'Engines' plugins for 'Ruby On Rails'.
The beauty of 'Ruby On Rails' combined with 'Engines' is that your developer can change anything about the system without hacking at our source code. This, in turn means no problems with upgrade paths in the future.
We then added the 'Abacus' plugin which is the core of the abacus framework. This provides all features common to your application such as 'User Login', 'Access Control' (who has permission to do what) etc..
We then set about developing a 'toolbox' of applications that work ins
ide this framework such as a blog, forum, e-commerce system including many payment gateways, image gallery, global categorization, events system (calendar), user profile system, rating system, virtual hosting of many sites using 1 application, subscription management system.
